8 ways to fall in love in Ireland

1. The relics of St Valentine have been in a shrine in a Dublin church since 1836, when Dublin preacher Fr. John Spratt was gifted them by Pope Gregory XVI. Since November 10, 1836, the people of Dublin have been visiting the shrine of St Valentine in Whitefriar Street Church, where they’ll find a simple, soft cover notebook for people to write their messages to St Valentine.

2. Another tradition is for those in love, seeking love, or recovering from the loss of love to write to St Valentine in Dublin, seeking his help. People have written tens of thousands of love stories making Dublin the home of the world's biggest collection of love letters to St Valentine.

3. Could there be anything as special as getting your wedding rings blessed by St Valentine? If you arrange it in advance, you can get your wedding rings blessed beneath his shrine on February 14. Plenty of couples also propose underneath his statue, too. Imagine telling that to the grandkids…

4. The St Valentine’s Festival (February 10-14, 2018) is setting the tone to love all over Dublin City Centre.

5. The Claddagh ring represents love, loyalty, and friendship on the island of Ireland. It features two hands holding up a heart with a crown on top.
